Ali Semir, CCIM, MRICS is a Principal of James River Housing Partners and James River Investment Partners and has led JRHP/JRIP as a syndication and asset management platform to deliver over $2.3M in partnership distributions across 335 multifamily units located in 12 properties. Geographically, our holdings are located in three states and four cities and represent over $55M in AUM. Mr. Semir started investing in real estate in 2005 as an undergraduate student at VCU. He has established himself as a distinguished financial professional, having provided specialized consulting, debt/equity placement, and training services for real estate financial analysis and feasibility studies on numerous properties with a combined value of over $230 million. Mr. Semir has guest-lectured at graduate-level programs at Georgetown University and Virginia Commonwealth University, where he taught securitization, real estate finance, capital markets and multifamily acquisitions.
Previously, he has held positions at Capital One, Hunt Real Estate Capital, Walker & Dunlop, Freddie Mac, Thomson Reuters Property Tax Consulting, and HSBC Finance. During his time in multifamily debt underwriting, Mr. Semir underwrote and approved over $2.3 billion of commercial real estate loans and oversaw an additional $7 billion through CMBS securitizations. Mr. Semir has a Master’s degree in Commercial Real Estate Finance from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Real Estate and Urban Land Development from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Semir holds the CCIM designation from the Certified Commercial Investment Member group, an MRICS designation from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and a Virginia broker’s license.
