Black History Month Crew Door Decorating Contest / Concurso de decoración de puertas del Mes de la Historia Afroamericana

February 1 - 4, 2022 (due 9 AM on Friday, Feb 4) / 1 al 4 de febrero de 2022 (la fecha límite es el viernes 4 de febrero a las 9 a.m.)

Working together as a class, each Crew is to select and sign up for an individual that you will showcase on your door. Each door will highlight an important person in celebration of Black History Month. Door decorating is a fun and effective way for us to not only learn about the important individual your Crew chose, but also to learn about MANY important individuals simply by walking around the school as you transition from class to class. During the month of February, we honor and celebrate Black History Month by recognizing those whose lives have positively impacted our nation and world. Read more at the links below.

Black History Month Oratorical Contest / Concurso de Oratoria del Mes de la Historia Afroamericana

February 7 - 11, 2022 (due 9 AM on Friday, Feb 11) / 7 al 11 de febrero de 2022 (la fecha límite es el viernes 11 de febrero a las 9 a.m.)

Working together in small groups of 3-5 students, each group will create a 1-2 minute oration in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the most influential and important leaders, activists, and social justice warriors not only of our nation, but of our world. While his life and work, including his oration “I Have a Dream,” helped bring much needed change to our country, racism, inequality, and injustice still remain in our city, nation, and world. It is extremely important that we consider how we can use our voice, just like King did, to help create a more just, free, and peaceful world. Read more at the links below.
