Learning at Home Continues for Remainder of the Year / El aprendizaje a distancia continúa por el resto del año escolar

Dear Meridian Families,

I am writing today to share important news about our school's learning for the remainder of the school year. Due to the public health needs in DC, Meridian Public Charter School will continue distance learning for the remainder of this school year.  We will communicate our decision on the last day of this school year no later than Friday, April 24, 2020.  

Meals for DC students will still be available through the remainder of this pandemic. For more information on meal sites, please visit coronavirus.dc.gov/food.

While we continue to navigate these difficult times, the city and our school are considering summer learning options. When those have been determined, we will share information about those options.  We expect to communicate about summer learning options and a new date for the start of the 2020-2021 school year no later than May 18, 2020.  

This has been an unprecedented time for our city, our school, and our students. But what has made our school community strong is our commitment to our students. That commitment has continued while we teach and learn from home, and it will continue when we are able to come together again within one building.

I want to thank you for the support and love you have shown our students each and every day. Because of your guidance, our children have continued to learn from home.

Estimadas familias de Meridian,

Les escribo para saludarlos y compartir noticias importantes sobre el aprendizaje de nuestra escuela para el resto del año escolar. Debido a las necesidades de salud pública en D.C., Meridian Public Charter School continuará el aprendizaje a distancia por el resto del año escolar. Les comunicaremos nuestra decisión del último día escolar del año académico a no más tardar el día viernes, 24 de abril de 2020.

La distribución de comida para estudiantes de D.C. continuará durante el resto de la pandemia. Para obtener más información sobre los puntos de distribución de comida, favor visitar la página web coronavirus.dc.gov/food.

Meridian está dedicando todos sus esfuerzos para apoyar a nuestros estudiantes y sus familias. Y, con esto en mente, estamos considerando, junto con la ciudad de D.C., opciones de aprendizaje para el verano. Les compartiremos más información sobre estas opciones tan pronto las hayamos finalizado. Esperamos comunicarles sobre las opciones de aprendizaje de verano y una nueva fecha para el inicio del año escolar 2020-2021 a no más tardar el 18 de mayo de 2020.

Estamos viviendo momentos sin precedentes para nuestra ciudad, escuela y estudiantes, pero lo que nos ha mantenido fuertes y unidos es el compromiso que tenemos con la comunidad. Un compromiso que se mantiene firme en la enseñanza y el aprendizaje desde casa y que crecerá aún más cuando estemos juntos nuevamente bajo el mismo techo.

Finalmente, les quiero agradecer por todo el apoyo y cariño que les brindan a nuestros estudiantes todos los días. Es gracias a sus esfuerzos que ellos continúan aprendiendo desde casa.
